Treasuries moved higher on Tuesday, pushing yields on 10-year note to this year’s low, after the government report showed weaker-than-expected U.S. homebuilding in April, boosting demand for the relative safety of government bond.

I was reading through the list and before reaching point No.1 i was thinking to myself, does "passion" fit into the proper answer to the question and there it is at No. 1. I couldn't agree with you more Dave, great write up and motivating to someone like me. Now lets hope my passion falls into place towards something positive.

How do I become a business angel in the South West of England. I'm looking but there aren't many opportunities and before I jump in I would like to meet like minded people so where between Cornwall and London can I do this?

You could lump this under "for the love" but interesting that freedom to dance to a different tune did not feature, that is the ability to pursue your own world view, even if (or particularly if) it runs counter to received wisdom.

Not surprised at no. 5, although this is, as mentioned, a myth (one mentioned in the E-Myth). OK if you're determined and structured enough, it can give you more flexibility, but you may simply find that round of golf on Tuesday morning is replaced by burning the midnight oil.

"4 days to perform their due dilegence"

It's easy to do due diligence within 4 days. It's not so easy for them to sign a cheque. So, if it takes up to 6 months for money to hit your bank account I'd say they're pretty slow.

Also, how many of your angels have actually invested within the past year. Unless they have each invested in at least 3 startups, I wouldn't call them 'active'. That's not a call on AD by the way, but the angels themselves. I've met plenty of people who call themselves angels and then try to invest their time in return for equity - that's not angel funding - it's bad consulting.

BUT ... and it's a big but ... the debt that caused the crisis hasn't gone away. Whilst banks are absolving people of something like £40M a day personal debt, there's still billions out there... added to by the extra £200Bn the last government quantatively eased into the system.

I think we've been living at a false level of existance for so long we've forgotten the dim and not so distant past. Watch an episide of "Open all hours" ... that ran between 1976 and 1982. The world wasn't full of new technology then and people didn't buy everything they wanted. People used to save up back then.

There needs to be manufacturing industry based in the UK to allow all the other stuff to happen. Sadly it's harder to compete with cheap labour in other countries and we need to work out how we can compete. If we don't make stuff then we have very little place in the world economy.
